Comin' up: RSS + Since last time

So ag ja, time passes by so quickly and what have I been up to lately, other than not keeping my blog up to date? Hangin’ out at the Cape Town beaches saying howzit to all my brus having beer becoming deurmakkar eventually going home with the bakkie waking up with a huge babalus? Nope I have actually been busy and of course that’s why this blog has been un-updated. Anyway, a lot has happened and I’ll try to out line in brief what has happened and hopefully later elaborate on my stuff.

Main events include:

Becoming a student at University of Cape Town – Took a while lots of confusion. Lots of people who didn’t know anything, but ja, admin the African way I assume. Expensive, but ok, I have the best possible conditions for writing my thesis.

My field work out in the real world, more specifically Pretoria and Thembalethu, near city of George.

Other than that I’ve read a lot and especially (re)found an interest in the modernity discussions and subaltern views of modernity and globalisation, which includes post-development theory, cultural theory, post/neo colonialism, post-apartheid era considerations etc. I’m really in the middle of all this right now and it’s an inevitable part of my analysis, especially when it comes to computer technology. Technology use and attitude has always been highly dependent of the context; for a further elaboration on the politics of technology in the development debate, please see my article published at Incommunicado.info (Is Technology Neutral –A Funny Question). I am planning an RSS feed on my site (A thing that display news) if I can make it work.
